The Nursing program at the State University of Bolívar is part of Zone 5 and is the only one of its kind in Bolívar Province. It began its academic work in 1988 as an extension of the State University of Guayaquil to address the need for higher education for high school graduates in the region and the country, awarding the title of Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a clinical and community focus, thus contributing to meeting the health needs of the community.

Currently, the redesigned Nursing program includes seven academic cycles and two additional cycles corresponding to a rotating nursing internship. For the development of practical, experiential learning (PEL), it offers real-world settings, pre-professional internships in Teaching Healthcare Units of the National Public Health Network in Zone 5 and throughout the country, as well as in private institutions and community organizations.

The student integrates the graduation work into their training process with the following modalities: Degree or final exam, Research Project, Case Study and the work of linking with society.
